Adding your business to Google Maps means creating a Google Business Profile (GBP). Your GBP is what powers your Maps listing. Once created and verified, your business appears on Google Maps for customers searching nearby.

Step 1: Check if you already have a listing

Open Google Maps on your phone or browser. Search your business name. If a listing exists but is unclaimed, you will see "Claim this business" -- click that instead of creating a duplicate.

Step 2: Create your listing at business.google.com

  1. 1

    Go to business.google.com

Click "Manage now" and sign in with your Google account.

  2. 2

    Enter your business name

Use your exact name as it appears on signage. Do not add keywords.

  3. 3

    Choose your category

Select the most specific category for your main service. This is your most important ranking decision.

  4. 4

    Add your location

If customers visit you: add your address. If you go to them: set a service area instead.

  5. 5

    Add phone and website

These appear directly in your Maps listing.

Step 3: Verify

Google requires verification before your Maps listing goes live. Options: postcard (5-14 days), or phone/email if available. Once verified, you appear on Google Maps.
