Use this checklist to audit your Google Business Profile systematically. Each item maps to a ranking signal or conversion factor. The more items you can check off, the better your local ranking and the more clients you attract from Google.
Section 1: Basics
- Listing is claimed and verified
- Business name matches real-world name exactly (no keyword stuffing)
- Primary category is as specific as possible
- At least 3 secondary categories added
- Complete address or accurate service area defined
- Phone number is correct and active
- Website URL is correct and loads properly
- Opening hours set for every day
- Special/holiday hours updated
Section 2: Content
- Business description is 500-750 characters and includes main services and location
- All products or services listed with descriptions and prices
- Attributes filled in (wheelchair accessible, outdoor seating, free Wi-Fi, etc.)
- Q&A section has at least 5 owner-answered questions
Section 3: Photos
- Cover photo is high resolution and on-brand
- Logo uploaded
- At least 3 exterior photos
- At least 3 interior photos
- Team or staff photos included
- Product or service photos included
- New photos added in the last 30 days
Section 4: Reviews
- 10 or more Google reviews
- Average rating is 4.0 or above
- Most recent review is less than 30 days old
- Owner has responded to every review
- Responses are personalised, not copy-paste
Section 5: Activity
- At least one GBP post published in the last 7 days
- Posts include a call to action
Section 6: Off-profile signals
- NAP is consistent on your website and GBP
- Business listed on at least 5 Australian directories
- Website has a contact page with address and map embed
- Website mentions your suburb/city in headings
